Default Having trouble finding a hollow live centre for the tailstock of Teknatool TL 1000

    Hello All
I have a problem with my inherited Teknatool Lathe TL 1000.
I previously owned a ELU wood lathe and It had a good live centre where I could insert an auger and drill out a hole through, say a column to insert a continuous threaded rod or a timber table lamp to insert a electrical cable.
I am struggling to find a similar live centre for the Teknatool TL 1000 that has a hollow centre. All the centres seem to use a Morse Taper and solid.
I know it is an old lathe but it works fine and I like it because it used to belong to my now departed father-in-law.

There must be a ready made solution somewhere and I am hoping that some learned woodturner can point me towards a solution.

Although I'm familiar with the TL-1000's appearance and know that it was Teknatools first lathe, I've never used one myself.

Reading your post, I gather that you're saying it doesn't take a morse taper? Is it threaded instead?

There are plenty of aftermarket hollow live centres (with MT) available out there,, but for anything else you'll quite possibly need to have something machined...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Thanks for your response,
I currently use a live centre tailstock however it is part of the Morse Tapered fitting which is not hollow but solid, I need something that I can insert a auger/drill through its centre!
You are correct, I may have to get something manufactured.

I'm fairly sure the TL1000 does have an MT2 tailstock. I use one of these in my Woodfast and it's great.Teknatool Centre System | Centres - Carbatec

Thanks very much Picko, I have just bought it from Carbatec, what threw me is the silly shop assistant would told me this morning that the Morse Taper was solid not hollow. I spoke to another guy who went and had a look and indeed it was hollow 10mm in fact. So again thanks!
