Arkansas Stone
Up for sale is an Arkansas stone. I picked this up a while back but have never used it myself since I use water stones for sharpening. I'd like $45 for it.

I didn't think Arkansas stone got a grit rating, its either soft, hard, black or translucent. My guess is a white one would most probably be Hard?

Thanks. My query should have asked that not grit.
Soft or hard. Soft being apparently 600-800, hard 800 - 1200 -ish. Colour is variable as it is a natural stone, but should be graded.
So is it soft or hard. Also dimensions please.

Ok I measured the stone and it is 150mm x 50mm. I searched all over the box and stone but could find no indication of how hard/coarse the stone is. I picked this up a while back from a deceased estate and haven't used it so I don't really know how to find that out. Is there another way to tell?

Ok. Thanks Nicko.
I'll take it. I am presuming the $45 doesn't include postage.
Please let me know postage to 2318.
PM your bank details for a direct deposit and I'll reply with address.
Thanks
Lyle.
