    Default Backsaws

    Three backsaws for sale ...

    1. Disston #5 tenon saw

    12" long x 4" deep, 13 ppi rip.

This tenon saw was made in the USA for the UK market. Disston backsaws with brass backs are fairly rare. This is a beautiful example ....

The plate is clean and bright, with one minor apology - on the one side of the teeth there is some pitting. This will lap out after a couple of sharpenings ...

The saw still cuts quite well in spite of this.

    Price: $70 (excluding postage)

    2. Nurse & Co tenon saw

    14" long x 4 1/2" deep, 11 ppi rip.

I am quite a fan of Nurse & Co. They began making backsaws around 1850 until 1931. This brass back was probably made around 1920.

The plate is in good condition without any pitting.

    Price: $65 (excluding postage)

    3. Disston mitre box saw

24" long x 4" deep plate. Filed 13 ppi crosscut.

This saw fits a Stanley or Miller's Falls mitrebox. The saw is in excellent condition, still sharp, and was my back up for a mitrebox I sold a while ago. These are quite expensive saws, so it is a bargain for one in the need.

The hole at the toe is deliberate and not added on. This is used as stop to prevent the saw coming out of the mitre box.

Cuts very well and smoothly ....

    Price: $50 (excluding postage)

    Regards from Perth

    Derek,
I take the Mitre Box saw, even if it’s a bit lacking in flair[emoji6].

    Cheers Matt.

    Derek,

I have sent through a PM with my details, twice, yet neither appear in my Sent box. IT gremlins at work! Would you please confirm receipt or otherwise as I have no idea whether the PMs have gone through successfully?

    Kind regards
