Default Carter C10 Roughing Plane, Rare and unusual

    Carter C10 Roughing Plane
This rare plane has a repaired Tote from a Stanley plane.
The body is pretty good, Rust free with about 50% of the original paintwork.
A good one for collectors and restorers.
It has no blade so I'm selling it for $20.

    Hi Steck,
May I ask what the width of the iron is/should be?
    The same as a Stanley No. 40 or 40 1/2? 1¼" or 1½"?
    Thanks,
    Vaughan

Some reading on the web tells me it is 2" which is interesting. I have a nice old Carter 2" iron so I'll take it for $20 plus its postage. I'll PM you now.

This is a classic example of how big and strong our forebears where compared to those wimpy yanks.
Our version of the scrub plane which I guess was for use on eucalyptus not Oregon like the seppos has a 2” wide iron not a 1 1/4” like the Stanley original No40.
I have both these in my kit but must admit to only using the 40 on a shaping job.

    Agreed Henry!
I love the No. 40 I bought from you at the TTTG sale last year but I find myself using a No. 5 with a cambered iron much more on harder woods. This C10 will be a great addition I think.
