Thread: DEWALT DW735-XE Thickness Planer

Selling:

• Dewalt 735-XE Thickness Planer
• DW7351 Folding Extension tables (as mounted in photos)
• 4 sets of spare blades + 1 set in the machine (put in relatively recently hence plenty of life left in them)

Original cost of the above $1,700, for this sale I am asking $1,200. Would prefer to see as a lot but could look at separating out the spare blades if the machine purchaser does not want 4 sets.

Purchased 18 months ago for hobbyist use. Recently picked up a jointer which happened to be a combo thicknesser unit, hence reason for sale.

I suspect the majority of you will be familiar with this machine, for those who are not a copy / paste of the key specs from Dewalt as follows:

• Powerful 1800W motor handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease
• Three knife cutter-head with 10,000 RPM cutter head speed delivers 30% longer knife life and makes knife change faster and easier
• Two speed gear box allows users to change feed speed to optimizing cuts per inch at 4m - 8m/min
• Fan-assisted chip ejection vacuums chips off of the cutter-head and exhausts them out of the machine
• 495mm cast aluminum base is 2X more rigid than a standard 10" base and folding tables
• Automatic carriage lock reduces the movement that causes snipe without the need for manual engagement by the user
• Material removal gauge and extra-large thickness scale deliver accurate cuts with every pass
• Extra-large turret depth stop allows user to return to most frequently used thicknesses with ease

As a machine it is far more robust than the majority of the other benchtop units. Produces a really nice finish, it is possible to buy an aftermarket helical head for this machine (not fitted) but I never felt the need / that the cost was justified given the finish it produces with the factory cutterhead.
