Disston & Drabble & Sanderson Hand Saws
Here are a couple of lovely old back saws I bought last year from Vintage Tool Shop in Melbourne, used once or twice, then happened upon some fancy new ones
They're both essentially newly sharpened, and do the job you would hope them to do. I have an average size hand (happily use any medium-sized handles) and they fit me well.
First is a Disston saw which the medallion seems to indicate a manufacture date of 1896-1917. It has a cast steel back, and a handle of unknown species (it's very dark with no noticeable figure - possibly cherry?). It's filed forripcrosscut with 13ppi. The saw plate is 356mm long, and 80mm deep. The handle horn has been repaired.
I'm asking $130 inc postage, or $100 to pick up in Doncaster.

...and the other is a Drabble & Sanderson saw of unknown age. It has a brass back, and is filed for rip with 11ppi. I'd wondered if the handle could be English oak based on the figure, but it could well just be beech. Again, the horn has been repaired (it's not quite as noticeable as in the pictures). The saw plate is 357mm long, and 90mm deep.
I'm asking $150 including shipping, or $120 to pick up in Doncaster.
$200 to pick up both.

Ben's saws arrived. They are beautiful things and put the other ones I have to shame. I would like to bring my other ones up to the same standard. Ben might share some tips if he did the restoration.
