    ECE wooden moving fillister rebate plane


    ECE is the brand of the Emmerich company of Remscheid. They make classic wooden planes in the best European tradition. This moving fillister is one of their older planes. The brass work is really quite special. It is still there on their modern versions, but does not have the flair of this one.



    Again, this is a restored plane. I've attempted to keep the finish as original as possible. The only part that I replaced is the wedge, which is Fiddleback Jarrah. I have included the original wedge, which works just fine, but has a epoxied crack in the face. It is stable and strong should you prefer it ...





    The mouth is skewed for a slicing cut ...



    Two factors to consider: the first is that the fence comes up to 10mm from the edge (in other words, the plane cuts a minimum of 10mm wide rebate). If you want a narrower rebate (which is not common), then you would need to add a subfence.

    The second factor is that the mouth appears wider than one would commonly see in metal fillisters. Nevertheless, the plane is a solid user. Because of this wider mouth, it can take thicker shavings, and work really fast.
