    Default Expressions of Interest - big dusty.

    Hi all. I have to move as my landlord is selling my rental house and shed and that sucks .
    Finding a place with 3 phase power is proving difficult.
    In the event i can't, I'll have to dispose of my beaut HARE &FORBES (Hafco) 3 phase, 5 HP, Twin Filter Dusty.
    PICS TO BE ADDED LATER TONIGHT.
    Expressions of interest are invited for it.
    I'm asking $1,000 for it or swap for a good condition, working 240v, 15amp, 3hp 12" table saw (10" will be ok) with sliding table.
    The dusty has a 200mm inlet and comes with 200mm - 150mm reducing inlet duct. Its been located outside my shed in its own shed. The control panel has been relocated from the motor and mounted in my workshop by an electrician so the dusty can be operated remotely. The power control and cabling is included which cost me $230 for the installation.
    The filters are in good condition and have years of use left in them. The filters alone cost around $250 to buy new.

    Have you considered fitting a VFD to convert it to 230v?

    A VFD converts 230V single phase to 230v 3 phase. Most 415v 3ph motors can be converted to run on 230v. The VFD conversion is definitely possible as a DIY but if you are not confident with electricity I would recommend involving an electrician. I'm no expert on VFDs but I understand it's a relatively cheap option.

    VFD is the go.

    Sorry hiroller but that 3HP VFD wont work

    5Hp is a big ask but not impossible on single phase.

    Technically you will need 4kW VFD and this will require a 20A single phase connection/socket/line this in turn may required new wiring to any shed.

    Expect to pay around $250 for a 5HP VFD. The motor also has to be easily reconnectable into 240V 3Phase - if not expect to pay around $150 to get it done at a motor rewinder.
    Sparky costs ranges widely. The only person I know who had one fitted was charge $200.

    Given the dusty is 5hp (3.75kw with out losses) a minimum 4kw vfd would be required.
    This would need a minimum 17 amp 240v supply (20 with losses etc) No worse than a stove top or oven.
    1. Get a sparkey to check the power board can handle another 20A line.
    2 . Get a sparky to check the motor can run on 3 phase 220v.
    3. Buy a VFD min size of 4kw
    4 Get a dedicated supply run from the powerboard.
