    Default Grinling Gibbons Woodcarving book by David Esterly

    Selling my paperback copy of Grinling Gibbons and the art of Carving by David Esterly. Gibbons is still considered the best woodcarver of all time as evidenced by his incredible creations still on display across Europe. David Esterly is considered the international expert on Gibbons work and techniques having been called to recreate some of Gibbons original masterpieces during restoration projects. It is a very lavish book that is beautifully illustrated and quite rarely for a book of this type includes some fantastic insights into the techniques Gibbons used to create the depth in his carvings. A wonderful book for anyone with a woodworking or woodcarving interest. I purchased this in the USA some years ago and it is in close to perfect condition. It is one of the most inspiring woodcarving / woodworking books I have read and I am only selling it as I purchased a hard copy version in 2019 (again in the USA) having held the book in such high regard. I had intended to keep this as a working copy, however, best to pass it on for someone else to enjoy. It is difficult to find these books in Oz. Asking $65 + postage

    For those not aware of Grinling Gibbons, you MUST check out the videos on him, absolutely amazing work!

    And David Esterly was considered the most proficient in his style of carving, this is a sensational book!

    I'll lower this to $50 + postage. It really is a magnificent book per the message from aarggh. The quality of the work defies what one would consider to be possible to create in wood.
