    Default Hand Planes

Moving house soon, time to offload a few of my handplanes that are surplus to my needs. All in excellent working condition

    Carter No. 7 Jointer.
Made in Australia. Currently my go-to jointer (sale will go towards a Veritas BUJ). Good condition, partial decal on the rear tote (if you're into that kind of thing). Frog supports full length of the cutter (unusual for a Carter plane) combined with the classic thicker Carter blades, you get the best of both worlds. Some pitting on the sole, particularly near the toe, but I found this didn't really affect the operation of the plane (tried removing on a granite slab that was machined flat with 120 grit but gave up after an hour or so). $120

    Stanley No 6 Fore Plane.
Made in England, Rosewood totes (mark on the front tote, could use another coat of shellac). EA Berg Cutter. Very good conditon. $100

Marples No 5 1/2 Jack Plane
Good condition, some cosmetic damage to the rear tote (missing part of the horn - see pictures). Made in England. $70

Record No. 09 1/2 Block Plane
Very good condition. Made in England. $60

Hi Caillan, whereabouts in QLD are you?

Can you please measure the width of the blade on the Marples? The 5-1/2 was originally made with a uniquely sized 2-1/4” wide blade but sometime in the late 40’s/early 50’s it was changed to a 2-3/8” blade. One of the members of the Gin-Gin Men’s Shed has asked me to keep an eye out for a 5-1/2 for him, this might fit the bill.

I'm also interested in the 5 1/2; as long as its a standard size blade. I'll take it if its a standard size blade (~60 mm) and Chief doesn't want it.

Can you please post a photoofthe sole of the #6 stanley please. I have a friend who is looking for one of these.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Dang; I had a feeling it would be the smaller size. Sorry mate but I’ll have to pass.

Ok I will take the Stanley #6 if postage to Melbourne 3029 is not excessive.

2 1/4" blades are too hard to come by. I have to pass.

#6 arrived today Caillan. Looks to be in great nick. Didn't get a chance to try it out today but looking forward to giving it a run tomorrow.
