Default Hegner Multicut 2 Scroll Saw

    Hi All,

I have a Hegner Multicut-2 up for sale. I recently split my bets between this Hegner and a Carbatec SS-400C - as it turns out I ended up having to commit to purchasing both, but only really need one for what I do.

This weekend I put in a few hours and cleaned up the Hegner ready for sale. I'm guessing from the plate this is actually from 1988 - so just a lazy 35 years old, but giving this a clean up I can see how they maintain such a good name in scroll saws as it is a well constructed bit of kit. Spare parts are still available (https://www.thewoodworks.com.au/shop...oll-saw-hegner), but as far as I am aware this is fully ready to go.

I have uploaded a quick YouTube video of it in action - perhaps not the best blade selection for 19mm pine, but it had no issue. The saw was just placed on out tiled outdoor table, so would benefit from correctly fitting to a bench.
Sale is for as pictured, with single blade and blade removal key - ruler is just for size reference.

    Asking: $465

Prefer collection from Parkside SA 5063 (2 minutes south of Adelaide city) or Courier / Australia Post with costs paid by buyer (and investigations into cost etc).

Hi ….. I will leave this up for another week and then it will be off to Scumtree or Farcebook with associated difficulty tax applied. If you’re on the fence, jump now!

    Hi,

I am interested in this machine but I am trying to get some quotes for delivery to Waubra Vic 3352 as I am in the market for one of these.

Ok .... let me know how it goes. Shame you didn't post last week as my Mother in Law was over and could have taken it back to Ballarat for you!

I have just received a quote from a courier that will collect pack and send to Ballarat where I would pick it up, quoted $180 so I need to mull it over, considering I have never used a Hegner Scroll saw I am not sure how good they are, especially 35 years old and a single speed.

    Cheers

I’ve owned and used Hegner for years. Beautifully made IMO, never missed a beat. Serious quality machines. I’ve never needed two speeds so can’t comment on that.

    Regards,

    Brian

PS I also have the Hegner benchtop sander which is also v. good.

That would still be a good buy if you look at Hegner price you would be saving a substantial amount. Being a scrollsaw user for a long time you can't go wrong at the quoted price including freight.

The price for the courier seems to be on the high side. If I was to courier it, I would construct a box out of mdf so that there isn't any chance of it being knocked around or any forces put on the arms. When I get a spare moment I might box it up so its possible to see what we are dealing with in terms of size and weight and they try and find a better deal for freight - might help with your decision making. Even throwing some rough numbers into Pack and Send / Australia Posts suggests around $60 so I cant see you needing to spend $180. I will report back when I have more info (helpful for anybody else even if you decide not to go through with the purchase).

To save costs I can drop off. I’m close to Australia Post, Pack and Send and Sendle if needed. Seems to save considerable coin over pickup and pack.

The quote is just an estimate, but we will know more when it’s packed and the final weight and dimensions are known.

Sale pending subject to finalisation of postage costs.

    Thanks

Well I managed to get some shed time tonight thanks to the kids doing read to self.

Only one hiccup, either the digital scales are broken, or all the AAA batteries in the house are flat, or potentially both.

I will need to get some new scales to find out the weight to establish the postage costs. So far its 580x340x315 with unknown weight.

I reckon allowing for 20Kgs for machine that box would another say 6 kgs I reckon between 26-30 kg would allow enough, I also reckon Pack and Send or the other one better than Australia Post for an item like this, Aus post goes through too many hands, but if you drop it off to Pack and Send at your end and send it to Ballarat Pack and Send thats all we need. Just let me know via PM the cost and I will transfer funds into your account right away. Cheers Steve

Ok .... for those playing along at home, the final weight according to Australia Post this morning was 19kg!
Postage costs = Australia Post $49.45 Pack and Send $43.51 with an extra $10 on each for insurance coverage up to $500.

    Will PM you Steve
