Ok, still for sale - price drop to $400, apparently!

I'm seeing a lot of modern quality planes being put up for sale but can't understand why. This plane is made by a quality and knowledgeable fellow Australian tool maker and years to come it can only go up in value. What's not worth is the vintage that's being currently praised, sold and treated as a premium tool so, if you're not up the creek financially keep it. I apologise if I've over stepped the boundaries.

Not at all.. I've certainly been thinking about it! Feel free to try to convince me.. where would it find a use other than making miniature drawers?

Too true. I've recently been trying to get some more router planes so I could leave some set up with a wooden sub-base and to be able to hone a blade to be perfectly flat with a given router.

It's just ridiculous what Stanley 71's are going for when a new Veritas router plane with two cutters is currently $314.

It's not hard to see HNT Gordon products become very valuable in years to come.

The Veritas router plane is out of stock on the lee valley website which I think has been the case for awhile. So that may account for the high prices of 71’s.

A Router plane/old woman’s tooth would be one of the easier planes to make wouldnt it ? You could do a matching set Cgcc! Bet HNT Gordon could produce a mean one....

re selling tools - depends if you have the space to store them or want to collect stuff you don’t use. I’m more than happy to move a tool along that’s not in use.

Lee Valley had stock pretty recently, took delivery of a large router plane last week. They're definitely having trouble keeping up with some stuff though, I had an order for combination blades and some of them got pushed from mid August to end August and then to end of JANUARY. I cancelled them from the order.

I bought a mint side rabbet plane and it was months before I actually used it, but when I did I was glad I had it. That's the same with that plane, it's not an everyday usage plane but when you need it you'll be glad you have it. Just a thought.

Ok fine, peer pressure wins.. withdrawn from sale, at least for now.

I'm glad you decided to keep it and I'm sure you won't regret it, after all you once bought it you just forgot why. Take care.

Axminster seem to have low stocks too. I suspect it is something to do with the effects of C-19: low production and air freight being drastically reduced?
