    Can I just confirm if the blade on this is hss? And also that it doesn't have the brass mouth insert so it's primary configuration is just as a jack plane?

    Last question may seem redundant but I have this plane with the brass insert and whilst it's technically a jack plane I've got it setup as a smoother.

    Cheers

    Sorry should have been more specific with the brass inserts. Yes I can see those but mine has additional brass inserts visible from the bottom to close the mouth for super fine shavings.

    In the last photo of this plane on its side where the mouth is visible it seems it doesn't have it. Which in my case looking for an actual Jack plane is a good thing.

    How is one supposed to ask questions to determine whether they'll take it or not with these forum rules.

    The first instance of "I'll take it" in a post is equivalent in some instances of someone just cutting in line at a shop when someone's already talking with the sales person about an item yelling I'll take it without question.

    Just noting that they are interesting guidelines is all. Not a complaint at any individuals. Just the guidelines

    Instead of leading the question with;

    Can I just confirm I’ll take it, subject to confirmation that the blade on this is hss? And also that it doesn't have the brass mouth insert so it's primary configuration is just as a jack plane?
    Cheers
