    Default Jarrah and Rock Maple Mallet

    Another mallet from Dave's Woodshed just in time for Christmas, For this one I've used Jarrah and Rock Maple to give a real contrast between the timbers, inserts are Acacia and Brass. I've also used Lead in the Jarrah body to give some extra weight and the mallet weighs in at just under 30 ounces (850 gms for anyone born after the 60's) Not the heaviest mallet but heavier than most. I recall a saying that Paul Sellers quoted 'Tap softly with a heavy mallet' and I find that a.good heavy mallet gives a lot more control over the impact force. The handle is shaped to provide second good hand grip closer to the head for more control.
    The mallet is 300 mm long (handle plus head) and the head is 150 x 70 x 65 mm. This a well made hand tool and with a bit of oil or wax every now and then it will last for many generations, a true heirloom piece that I am proud to offer for sale.
    Price is $130 with free standard postage within Australia (or Express post for $10 more for delivery in time for Christmas, Aus Post permitting).
