I was lucky enough (and I truly mean that) to be able to purchase a set the same myself.

They hold pride of place, and are fantastic tools to work with - they will be cherished and enjoyed for years to come.

Hmmmm. 2 hours and 10 minutes to sell out.

    A bit slow this time.

You tell the "other half" that you bought the set for them as an investment and that you will lease it from them for a nominal amount.
I used that excuse many years ago to justify the purchase of a brass model locomotive that was being sold at a good price - she still owns it.

I think the market is becoming saturated, Brett - definitely time for me to retire...

In any case, for the next year or two I'll be working with stuff like red cedar & (southern) silky oak, neither of which I consider good for gauges, so I won't be generating any suitable off-cuts.

Chesand, if as a result of scarcity & demand the gauges appreciate in value I'll be amazed (but pleased for the recipients), however, I'm not sure I'd use the "investment" line with my better half, she's a pretty canny type and just might see through me.....
    Cheers,

I got my Black Wattle set this morning. They are lovely. I'm looking forward to using them in the workshop. Thanks Ian.
