Nova Comet II Midi Lathe
G'day guys,
A change in circumstances (oldest boy starting high school and youngest starting primary) has led me to part with my Nova Comet II - I just don't get the time to use it anymore. I purchased this from Carbatec in Brisbane (to compliment my larger MC900). Included in the sale is a heavy duty adjustable midi lathe stand that I purchased from Carroll's (CWS.com.au). The weight of the stand makes it very sturdy (and bloody heavy ).
It is a ripper little lathe that I purchased to focus on pen making, that runs very true, has electronic variable speed as well as manually adjustable pulley's to vary the speed range arc. Asking $850.
For the asking price, I am happy to deliver to the Brisbane metro/Gold Coast area; & out west to Dalby - just let me know your postcode, happy to negotiate on delivery location. I'm on leave until the 1st Jan but can always do a weekend run after that date. It comes with a face plate, live centre, spur drive and knock out bar. I didn't end up getting a chuck for this lathe as I used it purely for mandrel turning.
For the asking price, I'll also throw in a lot of pen blanks that I have accumulated over the last couple of years as well. There is Cedar, Maple, Silky oak, Hairy oak, Burls, Gum, Mango. Some are plain but there are a lot of really nice ones in amongst it all. If you are new to pen turning, I'll happily throw in a bunch of pen kits as well to get you going (you'll just need to get bushings or use a set of calipers like I did). This would be a perfect set up to get you started, likewise a good addition to a Men's Shed/Woodies club.
Sad to see it go but I'd rather it be used and enjoyed than just sitting idle in my shed. Pics below of the lathe and some of the creations that have been made on it .
Thanks for looking
