QLD: Drum sander wanted
Looking for a small drum sander to add to my workshop as I only have single phase power and space is limited. Anyone that has one (in working condition) no longer in use that would like to sell please contact me. The Carbatec 400mm/800mm Wide Drum Sander WDS-4080P is the sort of thing I have in mind but am not looking for one of those specifically.
Can collect no problem.

I have a Jet Performax 16-32 on a stand that I was gong to be selling sometime as I just haven’t used it for years.
great condition, barely used.
The only thing is do you want to come down to Canberra? There may be other things forsale if that helps the drive

Thanks
Ha ha, I was an interstate low loader driver for while, Canberra is "just down the road" from Brisbane but the 4 weeks quarantine is a bit off-putting just now. What sort of $'s did you have in mind and what else might be for sale please? I had the impression that Jet are made in the good old U S of A but apparently they have always been made in Asia which I learnt yesterday.

Made usually in Taiwan, which is a vast cry from a lot of the stuff made around the corner, as the Taiwanese stuff usually has a better quality to it. You're right in part of your impression, JET is a US company, for sure - they get items manufactured to their spec in Taiwan.

Hi again
I have had a chat with the boys at SEQ Woodworking Supplies about your comment v the Carbatec machine as they know both and I do not. We think the numbers, despite the undoubtedly excellent provenance of your machine, once you factor in gifts for the family in Sydney as thanks for the bed, fuel and all the rest do not make sense. The thicknesser would have been good but that is the one I already have (good innit?). Thanks again for your response, I remain hopeful that someone in QLD may have something.
Cheers Chris

You are among friends here. The machine I am offering has had very little use as I have other larger sanders and prefer to stick multiple boards through at a time. I understand your hesitancy to purchase sight unseen but sometimes a risk is worth it. In this case your biggest risk would be Australia Post.
