Thanks again for the thought.
I love the Japanese Saws. Unfortunately with spasticity in my hands I couldn’t cut a straight line if someone paid me.
This is why I’m requiring a supported power option

Ah! The old spasticity in the hands trick. Well I guess that rules out my next idea - a jigsaw.
I think you will find a scrollsaw pretty frustrating when it comes to chair components. They are handy for fine, thin work but larger stuff sends em running for cover (literally.)
Ok, so it looks like we are looking for a single phase, bench mountable machine in good, or restorable condition with parts availability.

Does it need to be a 14" saw or such?
I used to use my saw for resawing and circlework almost exclusively, nothing tooooo fancy.
Is a smaller one whats needed?
Like this, but more "industrial"? (Its on Gumtree. But its for example only)

Bandsaw old but good condition | Power Tools | Gumtree Australia Maitland Area - East Maitland | 1242197328
we had one of these, it was great saw, probably because my old man tuned it perfectly, I wish I had kept it now.
