    Default Shellac flakes

Shellac is a bug secretion that is hand collected from trees which then goes through an intense cleansing and filtering process by hand. The best shellac comes from India which where these flakes come from.

Shellac is used for French polishing, gloss, semi gloss or as a sanding sealer. It has a unique glass like appearance that is unmatched to this day by any other finish on the market. Shellac also has wonderful blocking properties, better than any other finish. It blocks silicone contamination, which causes fish eye, odours and residual wax extremely well. Shellac also blocks the resin from pine knots and very exotic woods, which can slow the drying of lacquer and varnish significantly.

I am offering Garnett and Ruby Dewaxed. Dewaxed offers a clearer coating while waxed is more of a cloudy appearance. Dewaxed is also the perfect sealer, tier coat and barrier coat both under and over any other finish. Waxed shellac is incompatible under many water based and oil based polyurethanes.

Shellac flakes if stored in the cupboard out of direct sunlight and heat will last several years. Once it’s made into a liquid form it is only good for 6 months which is why you make only what you need.
250g can go a long way for example you will need 200ml of shellac to do a chest of drawers. 1 pound cut is more forgiving than 2 pound cut and therefore you will only use 24g of flakes to 200ml of denatured alcohol.

    1 bag Garnett 250g - $25
    1 bag Ruby 250g - $25

    Standard post is $10
    Express post is $12.55

    Combined shipping
    Standard - $13
    Express - $16.50

The photo doesn’t do them justice. Garnett is darker while Ruby is well Ruby colour.
