Default Stanley S4 Smoothing Plane 1926-1942

This is one of the few planes that Stanley made in steel and not cast grey iron. (There was also a Stanley S5)
Far more robust and beautifully made than the grey iron planes, this was from Stanley's golden age.
This one is a Sweet Hart (SW) version with a full blade and quite splendid rosewood handles.
The frog and lever cap on this (and also the S5) were unique to the planes and fitted no other, and were not interchangeable among models.
The blade is sharp and is ready to go.
The plane is rare and is priced accordingly, but is also an excellent user.

    I’ll take it Scribbly.

Looking for a smoother, and I reckon this will be just right.

Two Q’s: is it dialed in, flat sole, and ready to use? And, has it been altered in any significant way?

    Cheers, -Jonny

Yep, yep and yep. No, it's as original.
Ready to go - and I have been using it. Might need a hone - that's all
    Cheers

Arrived in the post today. Thanks Scribbly Gum!
I only had a few mins to give it a go, but it was taking a decent shaving.
Look forward to getting it in the honing guide and getting it just how I like
