Hi Tom;
Knobs 2 & 4 look like they may only be suitable for Stanley Type 12 (and possibly Bedrock planes) as they have flat bottoms with straight sides; knob one is suitable for all the later planes as the tapered sides of the base jam it into the moulded cup in the base to resist the lateral loads better.
Of course they would also fit types earlier than 12 but would need the longer stud.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.
