Default New old stock vintage steel slotted wood screws

New old stock wood screws. These are pretty hard to find. In two lengths 1/2” and 3/4” both in size 4. Some of the screws have a little surface rust on the head and some are bright steel. I thought $5 a box was fair given these are hard to find but let me know if I’m dreaming. There is quite a good number of boxes (maybe 20ish) so if someone can use multiple boxes then that would be fine. These are a great size but cabinet making hinges for small cabinet doors or boxes. Pickup from ascot or happy to post.

Hi goodwoody. Postage would be very little. I’d suggest I could get quite a few boxes into a 500g bag which costs about $8. How many boxes would you be interested in?

If you actually use one of the AP "if it packs it posts" satchels you can fill it up to 5kg worth of stuff for the small satchel that's the equivalent size of the standard 500g satchel.

The only downside is you need to buy it at the PO at the time of sending, can't pre-buy like the express or standard satchels. But it makes it really cheap to send heavy stuff.

actually Aaaargh, the policy has changed. The "old" weight-based satchels, are now just known as sizes, and if you can put 5kg in one you're allowed. They no longer sell the weight based packing. https://auspost.com.au/sending/satchels-and-packaging and New flat rate sending within Australia - Australia Post. As far as I know there's no restriction on buying and taking home to pack it, and you can buy individual satchels. I have over a dozen express post satchels of different sizes at home that I buy int heir 10-packs, and there's never any question about taking the packaging home in that case, and I can't imagine it'd be different just buying singles.

As I mentioned above, buying the standard and express satchels for posting later is no problem, it's only the new range of satchels in the "if it fits it posts" 5kg category that the staff at AP told me you can't pre-buy, they need to be bought at the time of posting in the shop. This last bit could be wrong if the staff have it wrong, but they were pretty sure about it, even though the website seems to contradict that. But when I sent a 3kg express that weighed 3.25kg, they said it's over weight, and when I mentioned the changes from Sep 30 they said it only applies to the "if it fits it posts" satchels.

Yep they're wrong! Conclusive info from the FAQ that absolutely clarifies it:

Previous weight-based satchel New If It Packs, It Post size-based satchels
If your item weighed more than your satchel’s maximum limit, you were charged at the next weight level. Now you can pack up to 5kg in any of these four sizes and simply pay the flat rate for that size. If it packs, it posts.
    500g satchel Small satchel
    1kg satchel Medium satchel
    3kg satchel Large satchel
    5kg satchel Extra Large satchel

How on earth can Aust Post staff get such a major change to posting so wrong??

    cheers, Ian

their whole model is now if-it-fits. there is no longer a legacy 500g satchel, and no special satchels/boxes that dictate it is part of the if-it-fits range. For a time, they were advertising that if you had a "weight based" satchel it was good for up to 5kg, when they first introduced it.

Your 3.25kg satchel absolutely should have been permitted to go out as per that rule. I know, I sent a LOT of 1kg packs of coffee using old 500g satchels, and lots of 1.5kg in 1kg satchels, at several post outlets, with never a problem, even the first few times I mentioned that the weight was over their marked weight and no matter who it was said, "absolutely fine, that's the new policy". Sorry to say it, you got short changed on that one.

But there's no way they require you to pack stuff in store after this change - just does not make sense. I've bought "large" boxes (happened to be express post ones) in singles, and the price combines postage and the cost of the box (something like $19 and $3 respectively) and packed coffee in them at home, then returned them to the PO for the initial scan and they do the rest. I have over 20 small, medium and large satchels ready to go, admittedly all bought in 10-packs but all taken home, and all say up to 5kg. There's no way they would ask everyone to pack their parcels in front of them, or refuse to sell a take-home single item.... maybe your local PO is just more strict, but it certainly wouldn't make sense as a business to do that

    I will take it.
2 boxes of each would be nice. Send me a private message to arrange payment please.

Funny how they are now scarce, remember screwing thousands of them in with my brace and bit...before cordless drills.

Surely you had a Yankee pump driver also.
If the bit came out of the screw they made a mess of the Jelly big time.
Nothing a bit of bog wouldn’t fix.
