    Default Turner #5 plane

    Bought to be used on the bench but this needs a bit more work than I've got time for.

    Usual issue with the Turner alloy frog having a hump in the middle from zealous overtightening on the frog screw - someone with more time and patience than me will carefully restore it to all its former glory.

    It's been heavily used in its life, so there are scratches on the sides and sole. Casting is solid, no cracks. Have lapped the sole and it's slightly hollow in front of the mouth. If you're after a precision plane, you'll need to do more lapping.

    Blade is marked Turner and takes a nice edge. Cap iron has been fettled using the David Charlesworth's process.

    The chrome is coming off the lever cap on one side. Handles in one piece but also need work to get them back to that luminous toffee red.

    Nice heft, weighs in at 2.15kg

    I replaced the bent frog on my Turner 5 with a stanley frog, perfect fit and transformed the plane, Ross

    Yep - Woodsurfer is correct. It works fine now and works also with a Stanley frog but wouldnrather one of those Turner nuts out there gets it for their collection...
