Veritas Medium Shoulder Plane $280.00. It has been sitting unused for over a year now. Best to move it on.

    VERY interested.

Would you take $250 and post it to me?

    Hi WP

I put postage at $12.50. How about $260.00 plus postage?

    It came up bbeeaauuttiiffuullyy.

Quick scrub with a green 3M and a thorough degrease.... nice!

As can be seen, the old cutting board was used to test it

Thank you TT for selling this to me!

WP, you will enjoy that. I have the small and the mini shoulder planes, both are a joy to use.

    I'm surprised by it.

First, its smaller than I imagined. Second, its FAR heavier than I imagined!

The size is really good. When watching that various videos I was under the impression that it was more substantial - I'm aware there is a large - perhaps my mitts are unusually big.

I spent a bit of time buggerising around with it and its very nice. Easy to set up, adjust, do the mouth, get scraping-like shavings right up to nice fine cuts.

Will use it a bit tomorrow on some scrap and see how it goes. My wife was a bit upset that I was testing it on her chopping board!

TT left the blade nicely sharpened for me too

Love the forum. Such good people.

    At8 - I love the products by 3M.

I'm predisposed to them as I've used them for decades on painting cars (airbrush, resprays, fixes). They come in many colours and therefore grits.

A favourite of car refinishers is the grey, green, red from Smirdex and 3M.

I use green simply as its what was under the sink The 3M pads from woolworths/bunnings are fine, as are the Bunnings-sold scrubbers in the cleaning isle. They also sell an Aussie brand, which is good - Mr Clean Sponge Scourer - 10 Pack | Bunnings Warehouse

My wife curses me. I use them for cleaning around the house (especially good on shower glass with windex or ajax) and tiles. They scrub well without scratching.

For this shoulder plane, which I had out and looked at today (!!!!) it was a good clean up with green scourers, sanding with 800 wet/dry, then 1200 by hand front to back to remove the swirls and scratches.

Keep in mind it was all disassembled first.

I finished with some Renaissance museum wax, but Im hankering for some G15 spray!

On the "go-to" I am NOT an expert. There are many here that are. I simply read their writings and adsorb what I can. I will say, however, that car/paint refinishing products are the very very very best things out there. I can think of no better product to knock down nibs in Polyurethane or french polish/shellac finishes than a GREY 3M scrubbie.

This is because they can be washed, don't break up, leave no dust and don't rust. If using 0000 steel wool, these things can't be said.

Hope you find this useful - but as for restoration - literally every other person here knows more than me!

You're welcome. Remember, the longer-time members are better than me on this... in fact, quite a few of them are scientists!

Myself, I can only pass on what I've learned

On rust, its insidious. Try using Renaissance museum wax (ebay, and others) or G15 spray (Blackwoods).

    Both are my go-to.

BTW, the wax is "seriously wow" as a finish too

The Renaissance Museum Wax is good stuff.

G15 Corrosion Inhibitor looks good - no experience with this but if price is anything to go by ...
    G15 Corrosion Inhibitor - 400ml | Carbatec

    Seems anything good is pricey!

It is indeed. It must be made of Uranium laced Ebola nerve gas, from the extra delivery price....

At Blackwoods it can be obtained for $15.50 LUBRICANT FILM G15 SOFT 400G AERO | Lubrication Film | Lubrication Equipment, Sprayers & Lubricants – Various | Lubricants & Lubrication Equipment | Blackwoods

It only needs a quick "fttz" not a blast, so it should last a looooong time.

    HTH.

As far as the Renaissance wax, I'm very pleased with this indeed. I used a bit on some older boxes and they sparkled right up. I keep the rags for next time in a sealed jar as it seems volatile.
