Woodcut Bowl Saver
Bought it and never used it, so that’s the condition it’s in. Virtually brand new.
$500.

I have the three bladed model, terrific piece of kit.
My question is to help others thinking of purchasing this unit, what is the tool post diameter?
Woodcut forward these with one of three standard post sizes, 25mm, 25.4mm and 30mm. They will make any size to fit your lathe, but these are the three that would be on their shelf, so to speak.
If your lathe has a different tool post diameter than what this unit has, you can either get someone to turn up a post on a metal lathe, or order one directly from Woodcut in NZ.
Mick.

Is it a 30mm post ? To suit Vicmarc lathes?

Just to clear up a couple of points of misinformation
The Woodcut bowlsaver can be purchased with quite a few toolposts.
They generally come with 2 blades.
Bowlsaver
Most bowl blanks up to 350mm diameter can be saved and generally 3 bowls out of that size.
The bowlsaver max came out with 3 blades and was able to be used on larger bowl blanks up to 500mm.
It is better on a larger lathe with good torque as there is a lot of load with the square cutter. They can easily stall the cheaper lathes.
They run best around the 350-500rpm range.
They are suited to green timber where you can save easily, can work on dry timber but hard work for some.Jim Carroll
