If you decided to sell the boards individually, would the price then be $136.50 per board?

It seems that people need a refresher course of the rules

    Particularly this one

    FOR BUYERS
    14. Noticed a problem? If you think there is something wrong with an item for sale that needs to be clarified, such as price or damage, please do it via a Private Message (PM) to the seller. The seller should then post any further clarification in the thread. The buyer should not post "PM sent" unless he/she details why eg "PM sent to clarify the freight options". "PM sent" by itself confuses people into thinking an offer has been made when it has not.
    Cheers

I guess so but I'm negotiable depending on how many one would want?

DJ, I was just trying to point out the cubic price was wrong. Some people may think 7500 per cube is a very good price but in fact it is more than 10,000 per cube. Can you at least ask the seller to correct it?

    Default cubage

I worked the cubic metre-age at the Rough Sawn dimensions of 11/2.4m x .3m x .025 which is what it would be 'off the shelf' at a timber merchant.
The fact it has been SQUARE dressed all round is a BONUS as it saves on the time and cost of machining which if one was to order it dressed would make the COST quite higher.
Out of interest I enquired through a merchant (there aren't many so figure out?)who only supplies 200mm widths $47/m Rough Sawn, gst inc. (around $9500/m3)
So, RELATIVELY the price is actually CHEAP. especially as it has only ever been stored in the one spot since the late 90s.
I stated 'ASKING' $1500 so obviously price is negotiable and am open to reasonable offers.

Mate, I'm going to make you an offer, but before I do, I just want to explain where I'm coming from so hopefully you don't take offence because that is not my intention.

I readily admit that I'm a novice woodworker, and as such I have no idea what is and isn't a fair price when it comes to timber especially non-native species such as American Oak. The way I make my purchasing decision is by looking at how much the thing I want to build will cost to buy on Gumtree or FBMP. I then look to see if I can build it myself for cheaper or for the same price. In this particular scenario, I'm looking to build a barn door which on GT and FBMP I believe I can find the size I want for about between $300~$400. Now, that's for a new door and not a reclaimed door and it's not made out of American Oak, but the species of the wood is not important to me. Only that it is real wood and not cardboard. The door could be made out of Meranti, Tas Oak, Rosewood, cedar, Silky Oak, I don't particularly care. So, I'm searching for a suitable timber that is preferably a stable and straight-grained hardwood that's not too heavy and see if I can find it at a price that I'm looking for. So, please bear this in mind when I make my offer. I'm not saying that my offer is the fair market value for your timber, because I've absolutely no clue, only that this is what I'm prepared to pay for it.

I plan to rip the boards down the middle and laminate the two halves to hopefully get a finished board that's 125mm wide and 35mm thick to use as the stiles and rails for my door. By my calculations, I will need 4 boards, so my offer to you is $80 per board. I fully understand if it's not the price you are wanting, and no doubt you may get a better offer. I won't be offended if you turn my offer down, but please don't mistake this as some sort of haggling tactic. This is just me being completely honest with you.

Lastly, I see that you have some Silky Oak for sale. As I mentioned above, I'm not really particular about the species of wood I use. If you have other species of timber that will fit my needs and will meet my budget, then I'm prepared to consider them. I've given you the cross-sectional dimensions above. The finished length I would need is 2150mm. That's the height of my door.

    Cheers,
    Mike

One of the politest "take it or leave it" offers I have seen in 40 years selling timber.

Not being pedantic but I'm confused by the quote above that to me directly conflicts with the blurb at the top of every Marketplace page:

    PLEASE NOTE:
All correspondence between Buyers and Sellers is to be done in the thread, NOT by PM.

PMs' and Emails are ONLY to be used for exchanging personal contact information and only when the deal has been done between buyer and seller.

If you want to buy the item enter "I'll take it" if you need more info ask for more info in the thread not via PM.

None of the above members expressed interests in buying etc, yes it can be problematic, reasons for bringing these rules in, was because in previous years it would quite often end up in a bunfight, we try to keep it fair and keep out of it for most of the sales, but we’ve have received quite a few reported posts lately and I’m just trying remind everyone of the rules and to keep the peace.
    Cheers
