Oh, if only I wasn't temporarily stuck in Canada, I'd find the $6k asked for the lot

Plus hire a truck to move it

plus find a person to store it for me till I can return to Australia ...




on second and third thoughts ...

are any Forum members interested in going shares on the $6k lot of Aust Red Cedar?
As I am in Canada for the better part of another year, the deal would have to include:

• arranging a truck or heavy duty trailer to collect the timber;
• someone to drive the truck / haul the trailer;
• two people (minimum) to load all the timber onto the truck / trailer;
• a place to store the timber for free

any takers ??

commercial supplies of such cedar are rare and command a premium. However, over the last 5 to 10 years I have seen some lovely stashes like these go unloved and left on the shelf.

I have far more timber than i can ever use, so am not a buyer. But I can offer some advice, if you are interested.

There are a lot of potential buyers on these forums if you sell slab by slab individually. You don’t need to fear being left with the “leavings” either as there buyers for scraps at the right price. I predict that you can get a better return piecemeal than bulk. If you really need to sell bulk then there are buyers who will buy on the cheap and sell piecemeal but you will not get the $$.

Hey DPH, you sell your red cedar?

Hi Austin, no I didn't. Did manage to sell about 8T of other timber so for now can accommodate the more high end pieces.. that's the red cedar and huon pine.
A few more pics of the cedar from when I was moving it around.
All the long cedar slabs are from the same tree, you could actually piece back together 7m of the same tree.

But as I said, not impacting me for now, so can stay where it is until I gather more enthusiasm

You must have had quite the collection! Well if you are hanging onto it, good luck making some things out of it, I bet it will keep you going for a while.
