    Default Lovely timber

Yes, it is lovely timber. Here is a chisel handle (my first) produced using MMs Blackwood. Only a phone photo, sorry.

Wow, that's an amazing looking handle..
I'm looking to make some chisel/turning handles with this and yet-to-be-sourced timber. Not familiar with the strength of acacia though.

Blackwood, Acacia melanoxylon, is quite a strong timber with medium density and resistance to damage. It would not be your first choice for an axe or block-splitter handle, but takes a finish really well and, for a woodturning chisel or woodworking chisel handle will look superb while well and truly fulfilling its role.

Also, the beauty comes from the timber, not my work - I am an absolute novice woodturner!
