Default Huon Pine (in the form of part of a boat)

I bought several pieces of a Huon Pine hulled and framed boat at auction a couple of years ago. Most has been salvaged and repurposed however I still have a final piece that's mostly just in the way. I have an injury preventing me working at the moment and there are more important jobs backing up than salvaging what's in this.

So, own a piece of history. The pictured bit of hull is about 3m long. The planks are 32mm Huon Pine, with the frames behind made of two laminated pieces of 19mm Huon. There's some stringers still attached (Ash, but hard to salvage in useable form) and other bits and bobs. Plenty of bronze and copper that will probably pay for your petrol. Made in 1938, she sailed the Sydney to Hobart and protested French nuclear testing in the Pacific.

A nominal $30 or some nice beer and negotiable at that.

You will need at least two strong people to move and load it, I can only offer minimal assistance with one hand.

Oh, I should add, the inside surfaces are primed with red lead. Precautions the same as dealing with old paint are required.

    Default Huon pine boat

    Hi,Lostwax,
I was just looking at your Boat?? picture,
That is a real bit of history,
It might be worth looking at Tasmania for a Museum piece.
Do you know who sailed it in Sydney to Hobart?

    It's yours Springwater.

Friday evening is likely to be the pick of those times, PM me your phone number and we'll have a chat. It's in North Coburg.

I don't know who sailed in the Sydney to Hobart. I think she ran twice, there's a bit of info around. Certainly a bit of history, I'm reasonably glad I don't have the guilt of being the person to take the chainsaw to it originally.

She was also involved in the protest against the French nuclear tests at Mururoa Atoll in 1973.

    Default Warana

    Hi , Lostwax,
The boat was in the Sydney to Hobart 1953,
    A G Warner (Skipper)
    P. R. Warner (Nav, and Owner) RYC Vic.
    After that,
    New people
When She went to the protest on the Nuclear tests some of the crew got very sick (seasick) at NZ. so they left.
Not a very big boat (about 40 feet)
I wouldn't recommend Syd to Hobart. on that

The Maritime Museum of Tasmania in Hobart already owns the Huon pine sloop "Westward" which won the second and third Sydney-Hobart yacht races.
Westward | Maritime Museum of Tasmania
    Westward | Muir's Boatyard

"Westward" is afloat in Constitution Dock, diagonally across the road from the Maritime Museum.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to pick up the bit of boat at the time I said I could. I’ve communicated to Lostwax about my situation and decided it would be better that the bit of boat went to someone else. My apologies to Lostwax for any inconvenience. Hope it’s put to good use.

I cannot for the life of me work out how to mark this as sold properly.
