    Default Qld Maple Veneer sheets

Looking to sell some sheets of maple veneer which was cut around 40-50 years ago in Atherton. Good sizes roughly 2-2.4m long and 300-400 wide. Many sheets have lovely consistent figure. Asking $5/sheet to be sold in packs of 10 sheets ($50/pack). I値l try and post some photos on the weekend but please let me know if there is any interest at this bargain price.

I'm interested in a couple of packs. Do you know the thickness of the veneers?

Thanks for the interest guys. In terms of thickness I think they are mostly 0.6mm. In terms of transport I think there would be two options. If you want to retain the full length they could quite easily be rolled into a tight cylinder. This has the benefit of protecting the end grain sections. At a guess the dimensions of the cylinder would be around 300h x 400 diameter. Weight would be very little of course. The second option would be to cut them into short(er) lengths and transport them flat. Lengths of 600-900mm should transport ok and the length could be cut to suit your purposes of course. I’ll let you have a think and let me know what you’d prefer.

Happy to take two $50 packs if available plus post to 5051, SA. Rolled up is fine. I've already bought veneer like that. Assuming it isn't too brittle.

Thanks guys. I think rolled up is the way to go. I値l get a quote on postage on Saturday but I think at bagged rates (not boxed) aus post will be very affordable due to the weight being quite light.
Moby I値l put two packs aside for you and 2 for you also hurcorh. Shane smith, just let me know you池e happy with the postage arrangements and I値l confirm a pack for you also.
Doubked, you壇 be welcome to inspect. I値l drop you a PM.

    Hello,

Could you post a photo of the veneer? I'm interested in a pack.

    Regards,

I’m happy to take a pack. Just curious on what you mean as bagged? Like rolled up in plastic? I don’t have that much confidence in Aust post to not flatten it into little pieces.

I would prefer posted flat in 600 or 900mm lengths - either length is OK for me.

Also interested in a photo or two.

Would you ship it internationally? Pretty sure in this form in these quantities there wouldn't be any phytosanitary restrictions, and it would just be a matter of taking it to AusPost.

If rolled up and in a bag I don't think i'd trust Auspost with it either, unless in a box.

Some photos here. You'll see it's lovely stuff. It has all been sliced on the 1/4 and some is much more figured than others. In other words it's a mixed bag. There are quite a lot of consecutive sheets in runs of 4-10 sheets. You'll see in the photos that they are all still in their original bundles made up at the mill. Mill dates are in the 1970's. Widths vary from 200-400 with most of it around 300mm.

I'll confess to getting a little nervous about mailing this stuff. Not because it will be damaged (I'm confident it will be fine) but just for the work involved at my end. To be honest rolling and boxing and posting is just not worth it for $50 to $100 so if you want it posted then I think it needs to be a minimum order of 2 and preferably 3 lots. Maybe you Sydney folk can combine a purchase of 4+ lots and divide it up at your end?

Moby, your 2 lots will be fine as it will be pretty easy to cut into short lengths and post.

Local pickup would be by far my most preferred option. I'm not trying to change the rules here, I just want to be fair to all parties. The more I look at this stuff the more i'm convinced it's a damn good buy. Let me know your thoughts.

If any of the other Sydneysiders is happy to join together to make a larger offer them I'm in.

I've never done veneering before so i think it's best that i only order a single pack in case i find it's not for me.

    Regards,

    Adam
