Southern Silky Oak log and a few others.
I've recently had to cut down a moderately sized Southern Silky Oak and was wondering if anyone needed any of this wood? I have a small sawmill and can cut it into slabs or any other dimension. I also have a reasonable Black Wattle log and some Qld Maple and Red Cedar. I'm located in south east Qld. I'd like to get a very reasonable $1500 a cubic metre for the sawn boards.

There are the two Silky Oak logs. The tree died, at least to some extent because of the recent dry weather and too much mistletoe.

Bob
What size is the Silky Oak ?
Can you post some pictures of the Maple and Cedar along with sizes ?
Depending upon where you are I may be able to pick the sawn timber up if I buy some timber.

Howard, Just today I cut most of the big S.O. log into slabs. The Lucas mill could just do it and so the biggest slabs I cut were just short of 20 inches in width at the big end. I cut these at 2 inches thick. The logs tapers down to the minimum of about 6 to 8 inches, depending on what I can get out of it. Probably the biggest Cedar log I have would be about 12 inches in diameter and a bit smaller for the Qld Maple. If you wanted some bigger pieces, I could cut some larger standing trees.
