Tasmanian blackwood billets, bookmatched clear and fiddleback
Hi all,
The kids have found their way into my stash of blackwood musical instrument billets, so we are putting a few up for sale. They have all been air dried for about 10 years. They are perfect for re-sawing or using for any special project.
Billets 1 & 2 are a dressed bookmatched pair, mainly clear with some nice figure leading into a tree crotch. Billet 1 has a small spalted patch in the first few cm of the block but was not docked out, hence it is a few cm longer.
Both billets are considered to be 580 x 250 x 47, equivalent to the shorter billet.
Billet 3 is a highly figured fiddleback section, partly on the quarter, part back sawn as can be seen by the grain. Fiddleback is tight throughout, both faces of the block simply sanded. The small sapwood section of the billet has not been included in the measurement, the usable section being 520x200x50.
Billets 1,2 & 3 are $70 each.
