    Lightbulb Tasmanian oak lot

    Hi All

    Workshop timber downsizing continues…

I have a batch of Tasmanian Oak for sale.

    Grade: Select
    Surface: Rough Sawn
    Nominal dimensions: 175 x 25mm
    1 @ 2900
    1 @ 4900
    4 @ 5000-5200
Quantity: 6 boards (27.8+ lineal metres)

    Original pricing was $20/metre

Selling this lot at $450 total.

    Location: Thomastown, Melbourne
    Cash on pickup

As this batch has quite long boards, cutting shorter for transport reasons on pickup after payment may be possible if required.

Please see attached photos for reference.

Initial correspondence to be in this thread.
Type “I’ll take it” if you would like to purchase.

    Cheers, Julian

For laughs, I asked bunnings to quote me Tas oak 1000x175x25 and they came back with $78/m. Idiots
My local timber yard was somewhere about $34 and I bought it.
Your price of $20 is a real bargain. No one sells anything at $20/m If I was there I would snap it up in a heart beat even if I didn't need it.

Thanks for the positive comments mate.

My discounted price works out close to $16/m for this sale lot.

Hopefully one of the members can find some value in this for a project.

    It’s lovely straight-grained Tassie Oak.

    Cheers, Julian 👍🏼

Hi Julian, would you be interested in selling 3 of the shortest boards (approx 13 lm) for $200.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Julian,

If you choose to accept Peter's offer above I would be happy to offer $220 for the three longest boards. Unless I have messed up the maths that's a little bit more per metre than Peter's offer but they are longer boards. If this is ok, I would need to pick them up after I get my roofracks for my new ute, which were supposed to be delivered last Monday. Hopefully I would be able to pick them up next week.

    Hi Peter

    Thanks for your offer.

Exact length of the 3 shortest boards at 175x25 is:

    mm
    1@4700
    1@5000
    1@2950
    Total=12.65 l/m

Based on your offer of $200 for these the l/m price works out approximately $15.80/m.

I am happy to accept your offer if these work for you.

Pickup from Thomastown is preferred Monday to Friday. Ideally next week. I can assist with loading. Cash on pickup is preferred payment.

Please direct message me to make arrangements.

    Much appreciated

    Julian

    Hi Doug

    Thanks for your offer too.

Please see my reply to Peter as a reference to details.

Exact length of the 3 remaining boards at 175x25 is:

    mm
    1@5240
    1@5200
    1@5000
    Total=15.44 l/m

To align with the l/m pricing for Peter’s lot at approx $15.80/m, and considering I am breaking the original pack-lot sale, these 3 boards work out at $243.95.

I can offer them to you for $240.

Let me know if this works for you.

    Thanks Peter

    I’ve replied to your PM.

Let me know if it hasn’t gone through with details. The messaging system can be a little troublesome to navigate at times.

    Hi Julian,

Apologies for the delay in replying. I was away over the weekend and just got back home.

Your offer looks reasonable after reviewing the exact lengths instead of the approximates I used and I will accept your terms.

I hope to be able to pick them up on Friday but I have a lot of things to deal with that had not yet arisen back when I made the offer.

So, fingers crossed, at this stage I believe that I can pick up this Friday somewhere around Midday if that's ok?

    Cheers

Thanks Julian. It was great to have a chat with you today. Thanks for taking some time out from your work to talk.

All of the timber is beautiful. I am looking forward to using it.

It's great that the between you, me and Peter we were able to sort out an arrangement which we were all happy with. That is one of the good things about this forum.
