    Default Tasmanian Sassafras boards.

For sale is a quantity of Tasmanian Sassafras (Atherosperma Moschatum) boards that are surplus to my needs. This stuff is getting hard to get a hold of.
Not blackheart, however there is some nice spalting and interesting grain patterns.
The timber is bone dry and dressed all round. Would be ideal for box making etc.
Photos show a shot of each side of the boards.
Asking price is $200 plus postage.
My old wool bale scales says the weight is 46 pounds. Not sure how accurate they are but if you allow the maximum 22 kilos (as they need to be packaged as well) on the Aust post postage calculator from postcode 7054 to your postcode, that should be a good indication of postage.

Don't forget AP will only accept up to 20kg, so would have to go in 2 parcels perhaps.

I checked at the post office last time I sent a hefty package and was told the limit was 22 kilos. The Australia post website seems to confirm this.
Guess I will find out for sure when I post this one and put it on the post offices' scales.
Will happily converse with prospective buyer to find an amicable postal option.

My apologies, I must be out of date, I was pretty sure it was 20kg, but checking their website it is actually 22kg.

    That's ok mate.
I thought it was 20 kilos as well, until I checked a few weeks ago.
Pretty sure it used to be 20.

Any idea if air or kiln dried? Ever steam bent sassy?

    It is air dried.
Has been racked in my dry shed for about 14 years and was stored undercover for some time when I bought it.
I live in a low humidity area 500 meters up in Tassie.
Have no idea about it's steam bending characteristics.

    Still thinking on it!
Looks good, just seeing if I can fit it to a project I have in mind. If fully dressed, do you think that most boards would still be 20mm plus thick?

Yes Jacko, the dimensions on the original post ARE the size of the boards after they have been dressed.

Apologies for the slow reply. I've been pondering a project that could use some of this timber, but have decided to use some timber I already have.

    cheers,
