Timber Stack 2 - the good stuff
Wow. Lots of interest in bulk timber! Good on you guys!
Here is some more.
This one, I hesitate to sell.
See the pictures and I'll attempt to give a good description. This stack I call The Wall Stack - the other is The Fence Stack.
On top are (the number are what I can guess)
-- Twelve Fence Pailings. I picked over 3 entire stacks at Bunnings and selected out the straightest, cleanest, clearest Gum they had. These are 3 years dry (I make chop boards from them!)
-- A fair stack of Merbau decking boards, various lengths and widths.
-- 3 Mystery Woods. I'd say they are something like Meranti or Cedar, but they are dead straight grained and harder than those guesses. They have a lovely rich amber colour. Pulled from a 1960's KDR roof.
-- The rest is my Most Dear selection of Vic River Oak***
The VRO was bought from a retired local cabinet maker. An absolute classic old chap called Hoppy. He will remain in my memory for a long time despite only meeting him 3 times. A classic dude. These planks have A History. He hand selected them in the 80's from ANOTHER retired cabinet maker who milled them on the banks of a river in Victoria (hehe, River Oak!) and stored them in one of his back sheds for 30 years. He passed the flag of them to me and I've been privileged to have used a few for some very special projects.
Below are some pictures of what the insides look like. These haven't been carefully prepared or any photoshopping rubbish. These were taken on my phone, quickly without preparation. It is a simple side table Ive been promising my wife for 2 years! You can SEE that the grain, colour and chatoyance hasn't changed one single bit in all that time.... its been on the shelf in a box!
The boards are wide, fat, long and dead straight.
*** On the count, I thought the camera might have caught that, but I missed. I'll update tomorrow with an accurate count and a better end shot with a tape measure.
OFFERS ACCEPTED on the bits and bobs on the top.... they are Just Wood. Nothing amazing, but the VRO.... I'd be seeking $50 a board (ish) and wishing to sell it as one sale.
It breaks my heart, but hey, one must take their lumps sometimes!
You are welcome to come and have a poke. We can pull one out, run a sander over it and you can see the magic pop right out at you, in front of your own eyes.
If anyone wishes to pop on a comment on what they think any of the other timbers might be or offer sage advice, please do so.
IM me, or zap me a message on Telegram (a secure chat tool) on @Woodpixel for a chat.
I'm in Mawson, Canberra.
As per all my other sales here, if anyone is interstate and wants to feed their greed, I'm very happy to oblige in any way I can and pack/prep/photograph/ship/courier to ensure a successful sale to an enthusiastic buyer. There are many bulk courier options available.

Any offers?
A few emails, but nothing over the line yet.
I'll give it another day then push it to gumtree.
Those boards, at $50 each, are a steal....

Hi Woodpixel,
I should not be in the market for timber - have far too much really, and have to sell some myself soon, but would suggest that you may get a better result if you give some dimensions - i.e. width, thickness, length of boards etc. as well as number of boards. I realise that you are 'an artist in wood' but most of us are just ordinary blokes who need to be told "how good it is and and how big it is"!
Also, if you run a whole board over the planer and photograph it you may have better response (photos sell items).
River Oak, aka Casuarina (or Allocasuarina), aka sheoak, is a really beautiful timber, with the lovely fleck from the large medullary rays - it is also quite difficult to obtain. Show the beauty - even brush some shellac over it (or just metho but be fast with the photo).
That stuff is not for gumtree! Keep it for real woodworkers.
Best wishes
David
BTW, if you really can't sell it PM me with the details and I might just clog up my storage with a couple of boards, depending on freight to Qld.

On Delivery
I use e-go.com.au and TransDirect couriers.
They'll deliver anything if its on a pallet.
I can drop it to the depot. Ive a strapping kit, or I can use el-cheapo Bunnings ratchet straps if that is your preference.
Its a slow method of delivery, but its not a small package!
My postcode is 2607. Have a play with their respective calculators and get an idea of getting it to yourself.
I suspect, though, to Sydney, that you are better off driving. 3hrs each way to Sydney City centre and I use exactly $100 of 98 RON fuel in my 6L V8 HSV.... no doubt other peoples cars are more... economical....
=== SIZES ===
I'll be measuring and sizing tonight and tomorrow. Soz, too flat out with other mayhems to get to it today!.... I'm not looking for much.... offer me a price if you wish!
My Telegram is @woodpixel and sms is 04remove11 1010remove91.

hey, I may be interested in whatever you have left. Don't need the whole lot, so everyone else can feed their greed first

Yoboseyo - fear not! I've been very lazy about getting the sizes up.
I'm prepared to do the Deal Of The Century to move it.
If you want a huge stash of superb timbers that will last you an age, just put up your hand ..... get a mountain of the best (Pay once, weep once).
I'll also deliver.
Keen to sell. I've been flogging stuff on Gumtree. What a ride.

Hi can you indicate dimensions of the boards - and how many you Ideally want to sell as a package?
I may buy the lot!

I'd like to sell the lot!
I was going to split it up into three distinct stacks.
The good usable stack, the box making stack and the Very Good Stuff Stack.
I'll have this done tomorrow.
The usable is not crap, its still good. There are a few very good box making chunks there. The rest are My Children..... sold off to science my lovelies!
Let me get this together.... back ASAP.
