4 jaw self centering chuck

NEW in original box never mounted.
F12-125mm. 4 Jaw self centering chuck.
$120 retail is around $200 ?

They are probably the external jaws wrapped up as the kit comes with them. There is one unwrapped at the bottom of the photo poking its nose out from under the package of bolts.

I don’t know enough about these things except I bought a lathe with one of those chucks that tightens with the two bars. This chuck looks like the type that tightens with a key in the square hole that seems like it may be better.
So far I want to turn spindles about 1 1/2” diameter with square ends. I have a tail piece with the end fitting for holding the tail of spindle.
Treecycle - do you reckon this suit my purposes? I appreciate there are a variety of chucks.

Andrew, this chuck's not what you want. This chuck is a metal lathe chuck which would need a backplate made for it to enable you to thread it onto your spindle. It can also be dangerous to use this style of chuck on a wood lathe for various reasons.
Brett, you would be better to offer this in the Metalwork Forum.
