Hallo there. I am interested just a few questions. Is the spindle hollow? What is the swing over the bed? Is there a gap or removable gap? I am at Maryborough 4650 north of Brisbane. Cheers Ali.

Hi there
The Myfords were a 3.5" centre height lathe. Excellent price for that machine.

How much wear is there in the bed?

I’ll add my 2 bobs worth. A 1951 lathe will have some wear in the bed. How much will depend on things. Can such conditions be rectified? Certainly can.
This lathe is a toolmakers lathe. A fine instrument with great capacity for its size. The is no plastic gearing in this machine.
It seems a good machine for the price. There ain't no devil, it's just god when he's drunk!!

Excellent machine for the price - and especially in such good condition. Would give any modern equivalent a good run for its' money.
