You might find that business are not prepared to put foreign material through their machines. A damaged blade is costly, not only for re-sharpening but down time.

Have you thought about trying a men's shed for the timber dressing part? You might need to spread it over a few visits so others can use the machines

If you give enough information about what you are asking it might make it easier for someone to help you.

- Melbourne is a big place, where are you?

- species of timber and sizes.

- is the timber recycled or new? if new how long has it been milled for and moisture content.

I doubt anyone would put up their hand to help you without at least that information.

I visited a bloke in Alberta Canada who was doing a range of upmarket kitchen utensils.
He had an auto lathe or three and charred finish maple was the big seller.
Sold thru a few trendy shops and markets direct.
We have a rolling pin somewhere, gave it to my daughter so no photo.

Great company, used to cart a lot of timber to these guys, never mucked around and great to deal with.

Looked like they’ve moved to new premises, looks like they’ve got 3 times more space than the old place.

Depending on your location and how far you wish to travel, I would suggest you join a Men's Shed or Woodworking club.
After you do safety training etc , you will be able to joint and thickness to your hearts content.
There is a club in Eltham called Eltham District Woodworkers you could join. Just search for their website for details.
