Default Two Red Cedar Kayaks plus seats, PFDs, paddles, fully rigged.

A couple of Chesapeake 16s made in Australian Red Cedar 3mm ply with a 4oz glass and epoxy skin inside and out. These are beautiful kayaks, much lighter than the plastic types and very smooth in the water and easy to paddle. Both are built with fore and aft watertight compartments for flotation so they will never sink even when full of water. They also have fore and aft watertight storage so they can carry about 100 litres volume of supplies and gear. There are also paddles, skirts, safety vests (PFDs), seats, rubber cell cushions, storage bags, all ready to go. They were made in 2020 and are entirely Red Cedar except for 6mm marine ply bulkheads and are finished with a marine polyurathane varnish. They cost a bit over two thousand dollars in plywood, epoxy, glass, fittings, rigging, gear etc. Asking for $1500, pick up only in Whitebridge.

Crikey Len, that's an absolute bargain - just the accessories must be worth close to a grand!

That's about right Bob. I made them just before covid hit and we spent the year wandering up the east coast kayaking wherever we could find a good spot. Our favourite places were the mangrove forests on the Evans river where you can just glide through the trees on the rising tide, have a picnic, then back down to the river on the falling tide. And Lake Lenthal just inland from Harvey bay. Its a huge lake with spectacular bird life and beautiful landscaped camping right on the water and almost nobody there. I was drifting along a steep shore there following an Azure Kingfisher when a water rat climbed up onto the kayak. Fantastic place.
Anyway I sold the camper with the kayak racks and the rv airlifters to lift the pop-top. The new van doesn't have racks and lifters and we are off to the west coast next year where there is not so much water and kayaks need to be used and maintained so out they go.

I so want to buy those, but SWMBO said "No."

Muttered something about no water to put them on. I mean to say, " just how petty can people be?" Seriously, I would love to have a kayak and they look like the buy of the century. As Bob said they look like a bargain.

There must be somebody out there.

I'm always jealous of you east coasters because of your numerous waterways.
We do have a few nice paddling locations here in SA but the operative word there is "few" .

I love the look of these and do live on the water but by what I can find online at 6’4” and 110kg I might need the size up from the 16

    Cheers

Yes Nathan the specs say that they carry paddlers up to 90kg and 1.8m. On the other hand they are very strong and rigid and make allowance for another 100kg of gear. The problem would be getting your knees under the cowling and being able to extend the sliding footrests. I am 1.8m and my knees just barely get in and my feet have the footrests fully extended.

Yes Paul, SWMBO...MBO. And I won't hear any arguments. But the kayaks have been a lot of fun. Probably the best thing we have done together in the last couple of years.
