Default Rimowa Topas 70cm Spinner Suitcase Luggage $1000

I thought I'd see if there's any interest on here for this Rimowa Topas Spinner Suitcase before putting it on Gumtree or eBay. This is the 70cm model which IIRC equates to a volume of 74 litres. The approx outside dimensions of the case (i.e. not including the wheels, handles or other protrusions) is 700L x 480W x 260D.

I bought this case for a 4 month European vacation and I wanted a reliable suitcase that I could count on. My travel worst fear was seeing all of my belongings strewn all over the conveyor belt half way into my trip. After much research I chose the Topas. Sure there are cheaper polycarbonate or nylon cases that don't show the battle scars as easily but the other hardshells have been known to crack and the nylon/canvas variety usually use zippers which can be easily opened with a ballpoint pen even when they're locked. The aluminium Topas may dent and scratch more easily but it's less likely to suffer a catastrophic failure. Its battle scars (see attached photos) are a testament of this suitcases's durability and clear evidence how much abuse this suitcase went through in that 4 month trip.

This particular model has been superseded by what I believe to be an inferior model. The newer models deleted the "add-a-bag" pull out strap (see pic with leather satchel) and they only have 2 locks/clasps whereas mine has 3 (two of which are TSA approved combination locks) for added security and robustness. I'm hugely impressed by this suitcase and the only reason I'm selling it is because it's a bit too big. The size was perfect for a 4 month vacation but my future vacations won't be quite as long so I've replaced it with a smaller Topas (
    63 litre).

The inside looks new and there's no stains or funky smells. The leather satchel in one of the photos is not included and is only for demonstration purposes to show how the "add-a-bag" pull out strap works.

I'm asking $1000 which is less than half of what the newer but inferior versions are selling for. This size is very popular and becoming increasingly rare. A quick search on eBay shows only a couple of examples with the cheapest one being a pre-owned version for about $2100 after GST, shipping, and currency conversion.

Inspection and pick up is from Robertson Qld 4109. I can also arrange to meet near the GPO on Elizabeth St in the city. Interstate postage is possible at the buyers expense but I'll have to investigate the cost.

    Cheers,

    Mike

I'm just trying to process the fact that a $2k suitcase even exists
You could forget the suitcase altogether; just buy a new wardrobe when you arrive, leave it there when you depart and still come out ahead

You should see the ones with "Supreme" livery. Exact same suitcase with a "fancy paint job" and some are asking close to $15K for it !!!
