Solar system (Central Coast/Lower Hunter/Sydney)
This one is a bit odd, but I'd like to see this go to a good home and get used - it's got plenty of life left in it, and is in perfect working order.
We've recently removed from our house a fully working solar system - there is nothing wrong with it, we are putting in a larger system having gone 3 phase, hence the existing system is for sale.
The entire system was purchased and installed in May 2019, so is a little over 3 years old. Plenty of manufacturer warranty left on this, and most importantly, I've spoken to our solar installers (All Green Environmental Solutions) who would be happy to install this at your home. They have told me brand new, this system would cost $13,500 installed today, after STC credits. They've also given me an approximate cost to install on a standard single story house of between $4000 to $4500. Of course other installation possibilities exist (e.g. 2 story home etc, but may increase cost a little).
Given that you can't claim any STC credits on a second hand system, I figure that taking the cost of a new system, subtracting the install cost leaves around $9000 ($13,500 - $4500). I'm looking for around $4000 or close to it, and the remaining $5000 is your savings versus a new install.
What we have:
- SolarEdge 10kW HD Wave inverter, including consumption and production monitoring, this can track panel level performance etc. This has been mounted inside, and in "as new" condition.
- 42 x 305W Suntech panels, each with optimiser to assist with any shading issues you may have in it's new location. These also maximise production per panel. These have been up on a roof for 3 years, but are in perfect working order, and visually look clean and in good condition.
- All racking and mounting - again, these have been on a roof for 3 years, but are clean, and ready to be used.
I will grab photos soon in case anyone is interested. If anyone has questions on this, please don't hesitate to ask here or via PM. Again, it would be a shame to not see this system get more use - we need more solar ourselves, and with limited roof space, we've needed to change panels to get to a larger system, and the 3 phase upgrade has prompted us to change inverter at the same time. This is the only reason this system is for sale, if we didn't use as much power as we do, I would not have removed this at all.

I don't know why but I thought you where selling the sun, moon and planets when i read the title.
was there much you had to do to get 10kw on a single phase?

Absolutely nothing. You can put a 10kW solar system up anywhere on single phase.
Your distributor *may* require an export limit, though Ausgrid usually don't. If there is one, it might be 5kW (and you use the rest of the solar yourself), though I obviously can't say what your specific location/distributor may require.

Just going thru something similar. Friend of mine upgraded his 5yo system and has offered the original one to me.
I called several installers and most were not interested in the job however one pointed out that unless the components, that is the inverter and panels, were on the current approved list they would not pass inspection and would not be appoved for connection to the grid.
The inverter is a SMA unit of which thousands have been installed but because it has been superceded by a newer model and only the new model is on the approved list it won't get approved by the inspector and can't be used.
So much for the concept of recycling.
The list refers to the Victorian Solar Homes Program so may not apply to NSW but it would be wise to check.

Thank you - I had missed addressing that in my original post. I have checked that with the installer, and also made sure they'd be happy to reinstall somewhere else.
They have indicated they were happy to do so, as noted, but I did not mention that parts were OK for reinstallation.
Obviously, I can't speak for any other installer, hence why I've noted these for sale in the areas listed, as our installer operates only in those areas.

I had a chat with my son (Electrical Engineer) about this. He is surprised you are stripping out a three year old system just to go extra power plus 3ph. He is a suspicious little bugger at the best of times. His suggestion was to incorporate the existing system into a larger capacity three phase system which would reduce the new panel count and the removal and replacement labour cost of the existing panels plus a saving on two inverters instead of three.
