    Default Vintage Electronic Ozone Generator

Hi, I have had, for some time, a very homemade 110V ozone generator. I looking for a retired person with electronics experience to help modernise/rebuild the unit. Peter 0466 207 269 Nth Balwyn 3104 area.

Hi NCA, I am aware of the controversy with ozone. The unit was built to aid wound healing. I have seen amazing results. Peter

The person does not only need to be an electronics expert they will also need to hold an electricians or electrical fitters licence or similar. If that thing accidentally starts a fire, or kills or injure someone they will be held liable. It would be interesting to know if the fixer was also liable for any medical complications

The medical literature on O3 contains a mix of successes and failures and the verdict is still out on the overall efficacy because no proper testing has been done.

My understanding of wound treatment using Ozone is that the borderline between being effective and toxic is a very fine one. This because it requires mixing of 03 with no less than 95% O2 gas under very tightly controlled conditions so hardly a DIY setup? The application is usually done by infusion into the patients blood after the blood is removed from the patient and re-injected into the patients blood stream, or via muscular injections or injections into various bodily orrifi, or combinations of the above. There are some interesting topical application methods that involve bubbling 03 through various oils which are then rubbed onto wounds. Usually treatment involves using two or 3 methods at the same time, often as a last resort when all other medical methods have failed. The side effects range from not feel too good, to loss of limbs through necrosis and death. Whatever is done, 03 is a well known poison and I would not want anyone without significant medical knowledge, a serious degree of technical backup, and a large insurance cover treating me with it. Even then I would still be concerned.

We have some direct experience with O3 when SWMBO was on daily O3 blood infusion treatment for CFS back in the early 1990's. It was costing us $150 a week (not covered by HBF or Medicare) and we were guaranteed significant improvement after 2 weeks. After 6 weeks SWMBO was feeling worse than ever and when I queried the treatment and cost, the "doctor" took us aside and said "Sir, you need to make a significant financial commitment in your wife's health". We sought a second and third opinion found out he was a quack and pulled out of the treatment. Several months later that O3 clinic was closed down by the medical authorities and the quack went and set up shop in the Phillipines.

Before SWMBO went to the quack she had been to 7 doctors over about a 2 year period including 2 shrinks who suggested various mental health medications so she was ready to try anything. After the quack she went to see a Liver specialist who sent her to a special dietician and she ended up on a diet of Peas, Pears and Rice for 3 months and slowly recovered. It took her about 2 years to get over it. Every time SWMBO starts feeling seedy over a period of a couple of weeks she reverts to that diet and it gets her back on track.

I have a relative by marriage who worked in a office next to a plant room at a pumping station in this plant room there were several open type 75 hp electric motors (they produce ozone)
in cooler weather the office was heated by transferring the hot air from the plant room into the office after 5 years the relative developed emphysema he was 36 at the time, the conclusion was the ozone from the
plant room caused this, his lungs are permanently damaged. No names as this a ongoing compensation claim

There is some evidence that high concentrations of oxygen can help some infections but O3?

BobL, My sister has/had CFS (she was recovering well but other health issues brought it back). Years gone. I can see why your wife was willing to try everything that looked like a possibility.

Yep - it appears to help - its not breathed in but injected, infused or applied in an ointment. I could quote a few research papers but I don't think its necessary.

Yeah SWMBO was pretty desperate - as was I. I had just started a new fairly high pressure job when she got it and seeing as all she could do was lay in bed and moan and grown I took over domestic duties as well. Half a mouthful of coffee or wine sent her running to the spew pot. At one stage she was even crawling to the loo and was completely out of action for about 6 months and then it took another 3 months to be able to drive, and another year before she could go back to some part time teaching. Sadly her family thought she was skiving off so we got limited support from them. Anyway she is now happily retired and rides her horse nearly every day. This is good for me because it means I can do shed stuff whenever she's away.

Thank you all for the contributions. I am sorry to hear your story, BobL, life can be a stern master some times. My experience with this machine was as a result of a friend pretending that she didn't have breast cancer. The tumour ruptured through the skin & ulcerated. The machine was used to heal the ulcer (NOT THE CANCER), over a 2 week period. The bulb is held near the skin for a few minutes & arcs across a 5-10mm gap, producing a dam of ozone at the site of the wound. Sadly the cancer had already spread. Peter

BobL you should get her a second horse, just in case something happens to the first one.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Thanks - one horse burns a big enough hole in the wallet as it is.

BobL, Yeah my sister got similar disbelief from many friends. I must admit that though I didn't disbelieve her it was staying with her for a few days that got me really taking it seriously. Glad you both got through it and as a horse person when younger I imagine she's happy now

I don't know about Ozone therapy so won't comment on that.

    Sorry to hear that.

Intersting to hear about the 03 on the wound, I have never heard of it being applied that way.

Wearing my little biochemistry hat for a while, I don't think that this Ozone thing is a good health plan.
O3 does not discriminate between bacteria and functioning human body cells.
In binding, the O3 releases a single free radical oxygen which is ready to attach to _anything_.
It's chemical burning = oxidation. The hydrogen peroxide of the air.

I see a wicked homebrew flyback transformer circuit to get the voltage up.
Old fashioned coils and capacitors dry out and short. Very smelly fire.
The cost of sourcing and buying fresh parts will be costly and I don't care who rebuilds it.
