Thread: Chuck for Nova jaws - SN2 or lever style, Bonham OK too

I'm surprised that there isn't an unused Nova chuck sitting somewhere on a shelf in need of a new home...

I don't know if it is a similar chuck to a Nova but there is a Vicmarc one on Facebook marketplace.

The Nova and Vicmarc chucks are very similar, but unfortunately the jaws are not compatible between them.

But that one on Facebook is a good buy for someone who is after a Vicmarc chuck.

If you search Facebook and Gumtree there are often lathes for sale with chucks. Contact the sellers and ask to buy just the chuck. You might get lucky that way.

Where someone is giving up woodturning, or someone in their family is selling a complete setup, they typically include all of the tools and accessories with the lathe to increase the chances of sale and hopefully get a better price, in which case they usually don't want to split up the offering.

And, if a woodturner is upgrading their lathe they tend to hang onto any accessories that will fit their new lathe, so things like chucks don't come up that way.

What I'm hoping for is that there is someone on the forum who has one or two Nova chucks and has since 'upgraded' to some Vicmarc chucks and is willing to move their old Novas along...
