Drum sanding service
HI All,
I'm looking for someone or a recommendation to get a couple of boards flattened in a drum sander. I have 2 panels that are 2.1m x 420mm wide that I want to flatten. They are messmate filled with west system epoxy. The boards are whelan the warehouse and have no nails (but the boards are recycled). The boards are fairly flat and would only need a pass or 2 on each side.
It would be great if there was someone in the northern suburbs ideally Brunswick or Coburg. I don't have the skills or the time to do it my self with a hand plane / orbital sander combo.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
Rod

Drum sanding
Quite a few Men’s Sheds have a drum sander and will make it available or run your stuff through it for a small fee.
Hope this helps.

Carefull
The boards are fairly flat and would only need a pass or 2 on each side.
A drum sander is NOT a thicknesses, drum sanders only take off a "bee's whisker" on each pass, trying to take more will overload / burnout the motor, take it from a Men's Shed member who has seen it happen.
Thickness first and then drum sand.
Cheers Barry

Depends on the machine. My old work has a calibrating wide-belt sander that can take over 1mm per pass (60 grit belt on a 30hp motor really chews through it), depending on material width and hardness, and there are machines that have a thicknessing head built in before the first drum for serious material removal.
They're in Moorabbin if that's not too far CONTACT - Dewhurst Furniture
