Hammer A3 (Silent Power spiral)
I'm a thinking that I should consider a Hammer A3 combo machine to save a bit of space. This would replace my long bed carbatec CTJ-350 jointer and DeWalt planer
I'm close to needing to decide whether I put a spiral cutter in the jointer rebuild. If I do this, then it won't be worth selling and I'll stick with it + the DeWalt.
So if you have or know someone thinking of getting rid of their A3, please let me know.

Hi Bernmc,
Do you have access to 3 phase power? I'm looking to sell on my Felder AD 741 due to an upgrade.

A deal might be done here, what are specs of the AD741, spiral head, electric lift etc? Of course if Bern does want it then I would not stand in his way. I have a single phase A3-31 that an AD741 might replace if it has electric lift on the thicknesser.

Single phase/15A unfortunately, so it's either the VFD route, or replace the motor. Doing something similar with a Hammer N3800 3phase at the moment, so I'll be an expert shortly . Not a cheap option though - big VFD (depending on the size of your motor option) provided the motor is wired suitably, or a big motor. My experience with the Hammer is you have to pick up 3 phase machines at bargain basement prices to make it viable.
The other issue is that you have a half-ton machine that would need to get from Vic to Newcastle NSW, and up my alpine drive! I suspect that that would add a big pile of $ to the purchase too.
What's the spec of your 741?

Marco, I regretfully have to decline on this, Mrs. P. would go higher than a low orbiting satellite if I bought it though I can't say she would be wrong. I have had some intention for a while now to put an electric touch screen controlled lift on my A3 and I might do it sometime in the next ten years or so and that is the only reason I was interested.

All good Chris and Bern, horses for courses does come to mind.......... can be quite cool at altitude, a new jump suit....... hmmmm, an expensive extraterrestrial expedition...... Anyway, I trust things work out well between you. I'll officially list the Felder AD 741 in the new year. Best wishes for the festive season.
