Looking for Custom Segmented Products
Hi All,
I have been in mesmerized by youtube videos of segmented bowls for the last few years. I would like to purchase a set of 3-4 segmented bowls, each of a different size/shape, but I want to be able to customize the wood used. I would also like the option to have some of the pieces be made from colored resin.
Is anyone interested in doing this type of work or does anyone know where to point me to find people? Is there a good place that offers customized bowls at a decent price range? I am not looking to spend more than about $200 total for the set.
All help, connections, and responses appreciated!

first hint. If your location is correct, you might struggle to get anyone interested from this (Australian) forum. If it's wrong, set it correct.

Assuming the op is in OZ, not India and this isn't a "I promise to pay asap via Western Union" job, if the total amount is $200 (including post/packaging??) I can imagine if someone has old stock on hand it might be a good quick sale to clear existing items, but to make from scratch to customers specs, and with resin work as well, I'm curious, would $200 cover what most turners/woodworkers would want given the time/materials etc?
cheers, Ian

I love segmented turning. I even purchased a set of fabulous little angle templates to get them all bang-on-right with a simple jig.
But, wow is it a LOT of work. Its slow, exacting and multi-stepped. Each step has to be absolutely right and the opportunity for a mistake is high!
I'd imagine the OP could find some for sale on ETSY (?). Some of the turners on there might be amenable. I saw some from Turkey and Iran, those dudes really have a talent for this kind of work.

What would be a fair price?
Thanks for the quick responses.
I actually am quite unaware of the cost of these types of projects and how much time, materials, etc. goes into making them, other than watching various youtube videos.
I based the cost estimate on both my desired budget and some rough skimming of prices for similar products on Etsy.
I travel frequently between Australia, India, and US, so the location of the work is not too important.
Could someone suggest a price and help me understand how much work would go into making 4 general use, medium-small kitchen bowls (like for cereal and soup), with a "segmented staircase/swirl" design (the one where one strip of different colored wood is stacked with each layer offset diagonally)? I would like 3 staircases/swirls in the design.
I am not too particular about the exact wood type, but I am looking for a softer white-colored wood as the base color with the "staircase" in a dark red color.
