Default Motor or armature for 2000 Watt GMC Thicknesser (13 inch/330mm)

    Hi All,

The armature on my GMC thicknesser has developed a short in a section of 4 of the commutator bars.

I am hoping to obtain a working motor assembly or working armature from a wrecked GMC thicknesser of the same model, or equivalent parts from a 2000 watt motor used on other makes. Can anyone help or advise?

{I have noted only 1500Watt motors on other similar builds of these "lunchbox" thickness planers}snake4.jpgIMG_20210912_181603.jpg

I am in the Atherton Tablelands of far north Qld, but willing to pay postage to buy the right part.

    Cheers

Thanks, Yes, saw that one. It is a 12 inch model I believe, and they had the 1500watt motor.

    Thanks, Crocy.

I contacted the seller and they cannot provide any details on the motor or photos of identifying numerals, as it is from a deceased estate. They did measure the stainless steel base plate for me (at 318mm) and it was less than mine (330mm).

    Cheers, Mike

Yes, after eating 3 eggs. Most likely of the local Guinea Fowl who bulk lay (18 eggs counted) over the road. The number of these brown tree snakes (aka "night tigers") in my roof is astonishing and they keep me awake by scratching along the asbestos ceiling underneath the insulation. Lighting the woodstove heats them up to party in winter. This one was lucky it was not in the chip-chute as I would have turned on the thicknesser had I not seen it. I would much rather have them than bush rats, though, as the rats and mice chew up your wiring. Several neighbours only running one headlight this winter....they need some snakes
