Plough plane
Hi all, I'm getting into hand tool woodworking (in an apartment - not ideal but it's what I have - so most power tools are out) and have been trying to track down a plough plane. My immediate use for it is to make some grooves to install a tail vice, but later on hope to use it for making grooves for some draw bottoms and shelves.
I've looked into buying new and the Luban #35 from Timbecon and Veritas small plough plane from Carbatec both look great, but both are $$$ Something like the Record 44 would be great but I haven't been able to find one. If anyone has an old plough plane they'd be willing to part with please let me know and I'd be happy to buy from you.
I'm based in Sydney but happy to pay for postage. Thanks!

There is a Record 44 on Ebay HERE looks complete except for the blade selection; I don’t think the 1/8” and 3/16” blades are there and there are possibly two 1/4” and two 5/16” in lieu.
If you’re truly desperate and have zero self esteem then I know where there is a Carter 54 available… this model is supposed to be also able to be used for trenches/dados as it has nickers for cutting across the grain however it would probably be best used solely as a plough.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

It's not a plough plane as such, but I have a Stanley 13-050 that I no longer need and was going to put up for sale on the forum.
It's all complete bar one blade and I'm only passing it on as I was gifted the veritas small plow.
If this is of interest let me know and I'll put up some pictures
Regards
Adam

Thanks Adam, I've just done some research on the Stanley 13-050 and it sounds like a good plane. Are you able to post some pics? Thanks

Here you go Walt.
I bought this from a fellow forum member a couple of years ago (Toymaster Len). Since then it's been cleaned up a bit and derusted, plusreplaced a missing adjuster.
I think it's just a single blade missing, but everything else is there. The knickers, fence, wide blade adjuster, etc..
Let me know if you are interested. I'm based in kogarah, but also in mascot each week when I visit the office.
Regards
Adam
