Congrats Bernmc, it looks like you snagged a bargain at nearly a $1000 less than a new saw, with just a dado insert and overhead dust collection to possibly add, and only a couple of hours down the road too!

Same setup I'm chasing, pity I didn't see it first ;-)

Please post back with your thoughts once you get a chance to calibrate it run some stock thru ...

I'm pretty pleased with the purchase! I'll probably 3D print and build the overhead dust extraction hood - the Sawstop price is a bit steep.
I cut a nice piece of oak before we disassembled the saw for transport - beautiful cut. Chap I bought it from does a bit of fine furniture work (he showed me a few items he'd made), so it's been carefully fettled. Hopefully I can get it back to that sort of precision when I get it back together.

Any recommendations for coating the table surfaces? I've seen everything from 70/30 thinners/polyurethane to wax...

What I have been doing to date is to cover the saw with a cotton cover - because of the Incra rails, and the overhead dust shroud, this ends up hanging over, rather than touching the tabel surface in most places.

On the table itself, Camelia oil (not the one you get from a supermarket, a woodworking one like this: https://www.carbatec.com.au/handtool...l-240mm-bottle). It needs a recoat every few weeks.

After experimenting for about a year or so with different combinations, the single biggest change is to put a cover over the table - preventing stuff hitting the cast iron in the first place is the best defence.

It works pretty well, though I just picked up a can of G15 at the TTTG sale (Carbatec sell it, so your local Total Tools will be able to order it).

No experience with it yet, as I haven't put it on or had it for any time.

I live near salt water. g15 is the only thing that keeps rust at bay. I tried Camelia oil and a raft of other things, but G15 is way better than anything else I have tested.
