Wanted: Scrub Plane
Chasing a good useable scrub plane. A Stanley, veritas or Lie Nielsen model. Located in Brisbane but happy to pay postage. Let me know if you have one you would consider parting with. Thanks, Derek.

In case it wasn’t clear, I want to buy a plane - not looking for a freebie

Carter the Sydney plane manufacturer also produced a scrub plane, the C10.
They were unusual in that they were very wide and also quite heavy.
Heres a pic of one with a Veritas and original Stanley No 40.
I have a Stanley 40 1/2 some where in the stash, it’s a bitsa I picked up at the Sydney Tool Sale and Swap.
Thats the cap iron plus a casting for another stalled project in the group pic.
I might also have another rough 40 if I can find it in the stash.
The other cap and repro casting is from a mortise plane by that obscure US maker.
I think Lee Nielsen might have done a repro of them.
I’ve rarely used a scrub plane for its intended use of planing rough boards but find the original narrow Stanley’s great for hogging off waste when shaping patterns or models in Jelly or similar soft stuff.
These do turn up but people have no idea what they are.

If you can't find a suitable 2nd hand one. The Veritas Scrub plane from Axminster is quite reasonable.

Not trying to hijack the thread but ihave two questions:
Is a veritas scrub that much better than a converted Stanley no 4? I wouldn't of thought precision machining would be critical on this tool.
Having other veritas tools, would kitting one out with a toothed blade (assuming either the rough or medium) work as well as a separate scrub plane?
Thanks in advance,
Adam
